  • I was the head of the department and in charge of the biochemistry laboratory of this national focal institute and hospital for cardiovascular diseases.
  • I took the laboratory to a new height with the addition of advanced machines, technologies, tests, quality assurance, efficiency, and computer-based test reporting.

  • I was a popular teacher and introduced innovations in teaching content and teaching methodology, which students of that time still recall.
  • In 1995, I established Medical Information Group (MIG), a non-profit organization. MIG promoted the use of IT among health professionals and medical students and ran computer training programs for them. I established MEDINET, a free Internet access system, MEDINET. During that time, there was no Internet service in Bangladesh. I launched the country’s first health website (www.angelfire.com/ak/medinet) and moderated for a long time (1996-2001) an international discussion group, <mignet>.
